Chinese Dragon Jar

Chinese Dragon Jar

Chinese papercutting has always peaked my interest because of its intricate lines and delicate beauty. The Chinese are the most proficient in this art form probably because they invented paper.
Designs of elaborate urns and jars are perfect for papercutting. Dragons are so expressive and the use of different background colors give a wonderful look and feel. Combining both the jar and the dragon was a vision that came to fruition one day. I found the perfect design and decided to try a papercut. With several changes made to the original design so that the inside pieces would not fall out, I finished the Chinese Dragon Jar.
I hope that I was able to capture that subtle beauty that is so prevalent in all Chinese papercuts. You can view more of my Chinese papercuts on my website or on my flickr account. Please do not hesitate to comment on this papercut as I value all constructive criticism to be able to produce saleable papercuts that you will enjoy adding to your wall art.
Until my next post, HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY.
